Classics Sports Radio Network to Broadcast CIAA Tournament
Fuquay-Varina, NC - Classics Sports Radio Network will broadcast the entire 2010 CIAA Tournament February 23 - 28 live from the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC.
All games can be heard around the world at www.classicsportsradio.com. Radio stations slated to pick up games include WELS-AM 1010 covering Kinston and Goldsboro, NC, WXKL-AM 1290 in Sanford, NC, WMFA-AM 1400 in Raeford/Fayetteville, NC, WCLM-AM 1450 in Richmond, VA, and WFSS-FM 91.1 serving Fayetteville/Southern Pines/Lumberton, NC Other stations are slated to be added. WSHA-FM 88.9 serving Raleigh/Durham, NC has been part of CSRN through the broadcast of Shaw basketball and will carry all games involving Shaw.
Classics Sports Radio Network was established in 2008 and broadcasts some of America's biggest Black College Football games and sporting events. Games broadcast in 2009 include MEAC/SWAC Challenge (South Carolina State vs. Grambling), Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis (Jackson State vs. Tennessee State), Atlanta Football Classic (Florida A&M vs. Tennessee State), State Fair Classic in Dallas (Prairie View A&M vs. Grambling), CIAA Championship Game (Bowie State vs. Fayetteville State), first round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs (South Carolina State vs. Appalachian State), SWAC Championship Game (Alabama A&M vs. Prairie View A&M), and the HBCU Bowl. CSRN also broadcasts Shaw University and Winston-Salem State University basketball.
Each broadcast will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off. The broadcasters will include L.A. Batchelor, Tony McLean, Donal Ware, Mike Rochelle, and Michael Louis-Ingram. The broadcasters have over 100 combined years of experience and have covered such high profile events including the Super Bowl, NBA All-Star Weekend, Winter and Summer Olympics, NBA Finals, and MLB All-Star Game.
This is the second year in a row that CSRN will broadcast the CIAA Tournament. The Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls are the two-time defending champion on the men's side while the Lady Golden Bulls are the defending champions on the women's side.
On Saturday, February 28 the nationally syndicated sports talk radio show FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW will broadcast live from Time Warner Cable Arena. Visitors to the Boxtorow broadcast position can register to win prizes and receive giveaways. FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW is the sports talk show which places major emphasis on HBCU (Historically Black College and University) Sports. About The CIAA Tournament
The 65th Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament returns to Charlotte, NC, Feb. 23 - 27, 2010 as one of the largest (third, only behind the ACC and Big East) and financially successful basketball tournaments in the United States. The annual tournament showcases athletic competition in men's and women's basketball during five days of play culminating with championship games. The CIAA has produced several of the finest players to grace the hardwood in collegiate and professional sports. The list includes NBA greats Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Earl Lloyd, Sam Jones, Al Attles, Charles Oakley, Rick Mahorn and Ben Wallace. Over 175,000 fans attended the 2009 CIAA tournament. Attendance for the tournament games has tripled since 1999 and the 2010 tournament is expected to generate up to $2 million in scholarship funds for member colleges and universities.
